Commonwealth Altadis Sales 2012
September 15, 2012
We love this kind of shoot. Any time we have an opportunity to go into a manufacturing complex and shoot all of the working parts, we get giddy. The U.S. office of Commonwealth Altadis invited us to produce a piece designed to communicate a list of accomplishments and initiatives to present to their holding company in the UK.
The core messaging of the piece focused on a newly minted set of corporate values slogans. Using employees as talent, we captured shots in their corporate headquarters and in their manufacturing facility that helped to tell the story of their current and projected accomplishments.
A few interesting technical details on the shoot. We rented a set of Cooke prime lenses to maximize the cinematic feel we were going for with out shots. The lenses were beautiful. Super sharp. They definitely gave us the result we were seeking.
We also worked for the first time with a Dana Dolly. This piece of equipment might have been the most exciting part of the shoot. It was super easy to set up and transport in a number of different configurations. And, was it smooth? Yes, it was the smoothest non full-size track dolly we’ve used. We own a Kessler Cineslider and we like it, but sometimes it’s a little bit under-capacity for our Red Epic camera. There’s just a little too much wobble that always leaves us feeling like, “hey, maybe the best dolly solution is a full size dolly.” In the case of this Dana Dolly, we were thoroughly impressed by the smoothness and versatility. It’s also pretty affordable, which is always nice.
