Hunter S. Thompson

While I work on various video and graphics projects, I occasionally like to have something inspirational running in the background on my computer.  Yesterday I chose “Gonzo:  The Life and Times of Hunter S. Thompson.”

A truly fitting choice, given the fact that I was looking for a creative kick in the ass.  It’s a super-saturated look at the life and times of Hunter S. Thompson.  If you haven’t seen this flick, reserve a couple of hours of time and watch it on Netflix.  Crazy, cool movie.  There’s some thing so incredibly inspiring and liberating that I feel when I absorb that Hunter S. Thompson cascade of beautiful vernacular.  “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was my favorite book in high school.  Reading it was like discovering a pot of gold.

Benecio Del Toro is a God in this movie.  He mixes a heady cocktail with his amazing gut, polyester period clothes and constant sweating.  His knife-play is positively frightening.  He is menacing.  “You’ve gone completely sideways man.”

If you’re a fan of Hunter S. Thompson’s writing, you need to see this movie.
